"Black Sea" Camerata Orchestra


ABOUT US

The conductor, Radu Gabriel Ciorei and the oboist, Adrian Porumbaceanu have the initiative to create a new private orchestra named “Black Sea” Camerata Orchestra, formed by the musicians with a great professional experience of the former “Black Sea” Philharmonic Constanta and the exceptional young instrumentalists of Camerata Dorin Teodorescu. It succeeded in an ideal formula, musical balanced, which is meeting the professionals from Romania’s biggest cities: Bucharest and Constanta.


“Black Sea” Philharmonic Constanta

The core of the Constanta Symphony Orchestra was the ensemble "Camerata" Bucharest , founded by the conductor Paul Staicu, with a group of students from the Music University in Bucharest. Under his original name Symphony Orchestra of Constanta becoming one of the best young orchestras in the country, and even in Eastern Europe.

Among its most important achievements was a tour of the major cities of the United States in 1984, under the auspices of the prestigious Columbia Artists Management in New York.
Favorable audience and press responses resulted in a second tour of the United States and Canada in 1989. This has been followed by numerous tours, including Italy, France, Germany or Spain.

In 1991 Radu Ciorei became the permanent conductor and Artistic Director of the orchestra.
From that moment the orchestra began to move in new directions, creating significant international festivals in cooperation with the United States, Belgium, Greece, South Korea, and Turkey, among others. Impressive artistic tours was developed in various countries : Spain, France, Belgium, Germany, Greece, South Korea, USA and Bermuda.

Under a new name The “Black Sea” Philharmonic, the orchestra
collaborates with great soloists, conductors, artists, composers as part of concerts seasons and international music festivals.

In 2004, the “Black Sea” Philharmonic Constanta is assimilated with National Opera and Balett Theatre Constanta.


“Dorin Teodorescu” Camerata - Bucharest

Camerata Orchestra “Dorin Teodorescu” was founded in 1998 by Adrian Porumbaceanu’s initiative, the first oboe player of the National Theatre Opereta from Bucharest. It was created in time, by instrumentalists of National Opereta Theatre, National Opereta, National Opereta Radio, but also by valuable students from Music Academy from Bucharest.

It approached a varied repertory, from pre-classical to contemporary music, but also multi-cultural performances, Camerata Orchestra became in short time a band of reference in Romanian musical life.
During of the 10 years of activity, the orchestra gave over 200 concerts, in Bucharest and in another important cultural centres from Romania.
It was invited to participate of a lot of festivals, and many of its concerts were processed by Romanian Television. The tours made in Italy and Germany and also the co-operation with important artists from Germany, Luxemburg, Russia, United States of America, Japan or South Africa confirmed the value of this young ensemble.

Radu Gabriel Ciorei CV

Born on May 28, 1952, in Cluj-Napoca (Romania) into a musical family, Radu Ciorei began piano studies at age five. He is a graduate of the Music College of Cluj (piano) and the Music Academy of Cluj (conducting and piano). Advanced studies include master classes in Weimar (Germany) with famous conductors Igor Markevitch, Kurt Masur and Otmar Suitner.

While still a student, he founded the “Intermezzo” Chamber Orchestra, which gave nearly 80 concerts throughout the country in six years, including performances in 1979 and 1980 at the Music Festival of Cluj, which he founded.

Between 1974 and 2008, Ciorei conducted over 1.000 opera and symphonic performances in Romania and the around the world. Frequently invited to conduct with numerous opera companies and symphony orchestras in Romania, he has also conducted in: France, Belgium, Germany, Portugal, Spain, Greece, Turkey, Bulgaria, El Salvador, Argentina, Bermuda, South Korea and USA.

He has conducted in famous halls including: “Teatro Verdi” Florence (Italy), Seoul Arts Center (South Korea), Olympia Hall, Paris (France), “Hilton – Noga,” Cannes (France), Royal Conservatory of Brussels (Belgium), etc.
